So life isn't all that great just yet. I'm waiting on comments from my thesis advisors about the (ostensibly) final draft of my thesis, the one that needs to be given some amount of verbal approval before I get it bound and it turns into approval-by-written-report. I have to get my GIS up and running and making some sort of analysis, and that seems like it will be a whole lot of work, but it needs to be done by Tuesday (with an accompanying 15-minute presentation, and 12-page research paper). On Wednesday Christian turns 25, which is awesome, but on Tuesday (after GIS) and Wednesday I have to write my final research paper ever for Brown (provided I pass my classes *holds breath, freaks out*)--it's 15 pages about Brown integrating women into the University in 1971 (while Barnard decided to stay segregated from Columbia), and I've already given the presentation that was to accompany it.
In the great tradition of delaying the beginning of any substantial undertaking of work, I'm going to compulsively check and re-check my email, make my bed, clean my desktop, upload pictures, and of course, post on a blog. Then I'll be in the particular mode of productivity that will yield some six or so hours of focused work on the topic at hand, in this case, my Crusades midterm. As of midterm, we're through the First and Second Crusade. I have 25 or so terms to define and 4 questions to address in preparation, about 50 pages of a condensed history that really is quite helpful to read. It's amazing how fast 50 pages of fiction goes in comparison to nonfiction.
So since the last update, I turned 20. I have officially survived being a teenager, without pregnancy, sketchy teenage marriage, regretable tattoos, and criminal records of any kind; and of course, with only a few choice regrets that get less and less regretable every year. I don't know that I ever thought about where I should be when I was twenty. I remember thinking that I'd be 13 in 2000 for a while before that, and it turned out to be true. If I had thought about it, I would have thought I'd be an adult in most senses of the word by twenty, and that turned out to be true too. All is therefore well in the universe.
My friends gave me a great birthday, and Ryan came down from Brandeis to join in, and Brent from NS. Among my favorite gifts is a panda t-shirt from Jules along with a hand-knit scarf, a great rice bowl set from Ryan, puzzles and other panda memorabilia, such as a pair of panda cubs adopted in my name from Aaron and Kira, which was frankly amazing. I spent most of that week disgustingly ill, which set me back about a week in all things, and I fear I've been a shitty friend in a lot of ways. I have a hard time getting/making phone calls, and email has been slow lately as well.
Romantically, things have been complicated lately. I think I'm really in a good place being single because I have very little to offer another person with my tight schedule and vaguely self-centered lifestyle---something I've pursued deliberately since September, because of my tendencies to try to fix people, especially if it inconveniences my life and causes me pain. It's something I'm working on. Excepting the obvious, every-day hopes of self-improvement, I feel very good, incredibly strong, and set with basically everything.

So the other night, we had a puzzle night as well, where we worked on the jigsaw puzzle I got from Christian for my birthday. The panda theme continues therein.
