there's so much more i'd like to be and do. besides the aforementioned skills, here are some things:

knitting
dancing
pilates
biking
gardening
volunteering/organizing things

also these would be good ways to meet people. gotta work on these, as well as being kinder and smarter and generally doing things better.

as part of job searching, an archive of skills i would like to develop:

-video & audio editing
-proofreading
-web design/ css+html

having these skills would make the job hunt easier, i think. also, they're cool.

in ohio en route to chicago with my mom. should arrive in chicago tomorrow, re-start the job search, visit with friends & family, & read stuff. fun fun.

i still really love mountains - mom & i went through west virginia & kentucky today after leaving virginia. i also like genealogy stuff and looking at old pictures.

hopefully, everything will work out.

The Happy Couple

"When was the last time you were at a wedding that had a death defying hike, rogue waves, a luau, ultimate fighting, a presidential candidate and a budding bromance?" asks Papi Chulo. For most of us, the answer is never, but luckily, Papi Chulo and Secret Agent Scotch took the time to Vox all the amazing moments during their unforgettable Hawaiian wedding on 08.08.08 so we could all take part in the festivities.

The story began last February, when Papi Chulo popped the question and  Secret Agent Scotch said yes! Since then, they've kept us in the loop about all the details, from the bride's veil to the wedding song to the final To-Do List. And throughout it all, they inspired us with their love for each other. (I'm pretty sure it doesn't get any better than knowing your future husband thinks you are The Perfect Girl.)

It's an amazing love story and we are thrilled they shared it with us. Watch the video of the ceremony and please join us in wishing Papi Chulo and Secret Agent Scotch the fairytale ending they deserve.

so i don't spend a lot of time on the beach (though i actually don't live too far from it), but this theme sits well with my mood. these days i feel somewhat solitary, with moments of intense beauty, but also with vast loneliness. so, something like my inner landscape.

i am reading the red leather diary and it makes me feel inspired but also very jealous. want to write and go to shows and create and connect. and take photos! and do more outside things.

re-discovered central park this weekend and i love it. spent friday and saturday evening there. want to go in the boats. love plants. want to hike, hike, hike.

need to apply to NRDC, democracyinaction.org, perhaps bronx botanical garden, and $60/hr tutoring gig.

tomorrow is everett intern natural history museum tour, then off to idealist networking dinner which i will hopefully be able to get into. brown networking breakfast last week was interesting and helpful in certain ways, though i resent anything that happens before 7am.

saddened by news of uu church shooting yesterday. have spent the day swinging from sadness over that to my obsession with my own petty concerns over jobs, etc. not sure there's a way to do much of anything else, for me.

i really need to figure out a way to get my stuff - not having it makes me feel awful.

horror movies are soooo not for me - even the previews make me anxious. don't need anything more fear-inducing in my brain - the news does enough of that.

want to post pictures but the only ones i have right now are are mobile and i don't know how to get them up here. i want to take lots more pictures, but feel embarrassed to do so.

this weekend i lectured high-school students on the internet age, pointing out to them that i had already visited several of their  blogs when our organization's name came up on our Google Alert because they had written about us. i am not so good at listening to my own dire warnings.

but if someone here is visiting from any of the above organizations due to google alert or the like, would you be interested in hiring a recent brown grad who graduated with honors in English literature and has worked at various nonprofits as an intern? if so, please do let me know. :)

Summer Road Trip '08

Although we typically post on Team Vox to let you know about things that are going on with Vox (to, uh, state the obvious), once in a while, we like to let you know about other cool things that are happening around the blogosphere. And we think the idea of four hilarious mommy bloggers traveling across the U.S. on their way to the BlogHer '08 conference - all the while blogging and video blogging the journey - is one trip you will not want to miss.

Four adventurous bloggers from the Silicon Valley Moms Group were selected to participate in the Summer Road Trip '08 and blog about their travels, hotel stays, media appearances, time away from their families, and life on the road. Six Apart helped them partner up with General Motors, who provided the blogging mommies with a Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV to help make their journey comfy, safe, and a little more green.

In case you're not familiar with them, SV Moms is a group of over 200 bloggers who showcase the ups, downs, outrages, struggles, victories, and everyday humor of motherhood. There are currently nine regional and demographically tailored sites that give mothers from D.C., New Jersey, the Deep South, Rocky Mountains, L.A., and Silicon Valley a powerful voice and sense of camaraderie across the country. Whether you're a mother, a child, or just a person who enjoys a good blog, you'll really love reading the words of these amazing women.

The moms buckled into their Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV on July 11th and even got an encouraging message from Katie Couric to kick things off! They are currently somewhere in the middle of America making their way to San Francisco where they'll attend an SV Moms Group Party, as well as BlogHer '08.
